Nast Keppler Cusachs and the History of American Caricature
A late 19th century sketch reviews the rise of caricature in America, tracing Thomas Nast and Joseph Keppler to the height of political cartoons, and highlighting artistically skilled Italians and Spaniards like Cusachs. It covers Nast’s immigrant journey, Keppler’s New York success, and Cusachs’s rapid, versatile drawing career in New York newspapers.
