A 17 year old boy Jacob Lautenslager died yesterday afternoon after swimming with Samuel Schneider in the harbor near the water works. Lautenslager undressed and entered the water. when he surfaced he could not speak and died within minutes, likely from apoplexy triggered by the chill. Coroner Blood took the body to Center street. Dr. Smyth confirmed the death. Funeral held at his mother Eliza Lautenslager’s home on Dove street officiated by Rev. Vegelein.
