Rockvent June 14 Newtonville near here saw a wild night after Sutton & Powell's general store and pen were demolished by an explosion. In Brooklyn a nine story warehouse at Greenwich Street owned by the Stewart estate burned for hours, with Hermann Dickerson's stock and nearby firms suffering heavy water damage. In Portville the business district burned late Friday night, destroying fifteen buildings valued at about 75000, with no local water works.

Younastown June 22 John Mc Kee murdered his wife at Allequippa a pleasure resort on the P and L E railroad then shot himself. The couple were well known McKee formerly managed the grounds. He killed her after declaring her time had come. Mrs McKee left two daughters aged ten and twelve. The two children, in another room, heard the shots and alerted picnickers. McKee was unconscious and likely to die. The tragedy ended a seven year marriage with the widow leaving the two girls.
