MILLFIELD July 14 A terrible boiler explosion at Welf's portable saw mill six miles from town killed one man instantly and injured several others seriously. Excursion Steamer Collision Near Horseshoe Bend
A near disaster on the Mississippi near Horseshoe Bend involved the steamer Charles Morgan carrying hundreds of German excursionists and the smaller Central City bound for Memphis.
