About 11 o clock this morning a middle aged woman in mourning entered Dr. D W Hodge’s vacant private office and prompted his immediate loss of a diamond pin and other jewelry. The woman Jeanie McDonald of Buffalo was arrested and brought before Justice Samways, but the jewelry could not be found and she was discharged.
Lillie Parroy, eighteen, was abducted Monday evening by her mother who lives in Minneapolis. A strange man produced a warrant and dragged her from the grandmother’s house into a carriage, which sped away. The city hopes the girl may be found soon after she was last seen in a dry goods store.
A young woman Bouunda, described as of humble parentage, was abducted by two men and left to burn in a pine woods near Artastio Cirr New Jersey. She died after two days without medical aid and a formal verdict later ruled the injuries accidental with criticism of the handling by officials and the poorhouse.
Four hundred sixty four patents issued yesterday with New York claiming ninety two. Pension Commissioner Dudley dismisses Dr Mary Walker for incompetency and refusals to vacate. Hugh McLean a sixteen year old Canadian was arrested in Watertown N Y after shooting Henry Newroth on Sunday as they walked beside the railroad. McLean demanded money, took Newroth’s pocketbook and fled. A second shot pierced Newroth’s back and breast, injuring the lung.
