Smith Mills and Local Fire Report in Irving Area
Reports tell of a harsh open winter with deep snow and strong winds. Mr Penhollow of Irving traveled home from Pennsylvania, saying he worked fifty miles since the first day of Jane. A house and barn owned by G W Smith near Irving burned last week. The Versailles barn belonged to Dea Parker, not Deacon Park. A Mayville jury failed to indict Smith and Knowlton last week. they returned Saturday night. We question the complaint’s backers who sought to hang the accused on an old hag’s words.
