In 1928 freight trains averaged 13 miles per hour and delivered 11 015 ton miles of freight service hourly, up 8 814 percent from earlier. In June 1929 the average moved 13 4 miles per hour with 11 015 ton miles, the best monthly record and 36 percent above 1923 performance.
