Wheat feed boosts fattening value says Farmers Union
Wheat is about one third more efficient than corn for fattening cattle based on tests at agricultural stations. Ground wheat with supplements required 459 pounds for 100 pounds gain versus 519 pounds for corn, and seven percent less cottonseed meal was needed with wheat. Prices at 84 and 92 cents per bushel imply cost savings and higher wheat value, per Farmers Union Terminal Association report. Two miles of Lincoln paving opened south of Sioux Falls on Tuesday afternoon near Harrisburg corner.
