Rains Of Little Benefit To Corn In South Dakota

Federal Meteorologist R Laskowski reports a week that dried corn more than it aided crops in South Dakota. While late weekend rains helped pastures and some truck crops, most corn yields remain poor to fair with only eastern counties likely to return fair to good yields. Haying progressed, cane cutting noted, and moisture in closing days prompted some plowing in southern counties. Temperatures ranged from 50s to mid 80s with varied rainfall totals across the state.
