Yankton To Give State Fair Boost

A one hour radio program on WNAX in Yankton will promote the 1938 South Dakota State Fair with greetings between Yankton and Huron officials. Yankton Mayor Ernest A. Crockett and Huron Mayor Jess C. Burns will exchange welcomes, Governor Leslie Jensen may appear, and the 50 piece Yankton municipal band will perform from 2 to 3 PM aided by remote control equipment.

Boost In Loan Value On Wheat Promised By FDR

ST. PAUL Sept 7 Gov Elmer A Benson says after meeting with President Roosevelt that the President promised to broaden the export plan and to raise loan values for spring wheat while backing surplus purchases and stronger farm legislation next Congress. Benson cited plans to curb food profiteers and improve farmer labor ties, and noted Wallace will confer with Roosevelt to consider emergency programs for stored crops, surplus distribution, and wheat exports subsidies.

Body of Dodge heir found in Georgian Bay

The body of Daniel C. Dodge, two year old heir to the Dodge motor millions, was recovered from Georgian Bay by two fishermen after gulls guided them to the spot. He died after an August dynamite explosion at Maple Point Kagawong. His bride Ann Laurine MacDonald and a camp employee were injured but recovered.

News from Mobridge and Buffalo Gap reports multiple flood fatalities in western South Dakota and a Minnesota flood isolating Elba. Bodies were recovered of Mrs. Wark Logge, Glenn Logge, Donald Logge, Mare Baret, and others after cloudburst floods disrupted railroad lines, telegraph wires, and roads.
