FCA Expands Financing of South Dakota Farm Purchases
The Farm Credit Administration reports a surge in South Dakota farm purchases in the first half of its year, financing 26 farms totaling 562,900, more than double the prior period. It lists Federal Land Bank and Federal Farm Mortgage Corp sales and loans, including 81 FCA Farm Mortgage Corp farm sales worth 111,700 and 30 other farm purchases with 99,400 loans, versus 1938 activity.

Pierre 1 The attorney general has informed George H. B. Oite of Clark, a member of the state board of charities and corrections, that an alien may be employed at a penal or charitable institution only when he has declared his intention to become a naturalized citizen by filing such declaration as required by federal statute and regulations. The opinion also advised state employees cannot be paid for more than 5 cents per mile for using privately owned automobiles on official business.
