Norbeck Blames Deflation of 1920 for Farm Ills in West

Senator Peter Norbeck told a Daum’s auditorium crowd that deflation under a Democratic administration in 1920 caused farm distress in the Northwest. Christopherson To Speak In Huron And County Tour

Republican congress candidate C. A. Christopherson will speak in Huron at 7 o clock next Monday evening at Daum's auditorium. He will give three talks in Beadle county at Cavour 1 pm Yale 2 pm and Virgil 4 pm. County candidates will accompany him and appear on the platform during his Huron address.

State Medics Hold Meeting In Huron

Council members of the South Dakota Medical Society met in Huron for their quarterly session at the Mirvin Hughitt hospital. Dr. J. R. Westaby of Madison led the gathering with Dr. J. F. Cook of Langford as secretary treasurer among those present. Tonight they planned to attend the Huron district society’s regular meeting.

Infant Barbara Ann Keer Funeral This Week

Barbara Ann Keer infant daughter of Mr and Mrs J W Keller of 867 Beach avenue southeast died shortly after birth at Huron hospital yesterday morning. Funeral services were held at Riverside cemetery yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev A S Carlson. Keller is a seventh grade teacher at Jefferson school.

Grand lodge sessions of the Order of Eastern Star in Aberdeen enter a second day with officer elections on the agenda. Over a thousand members attended Wednesday with more expected today as programs run through Friday night. Memorial service featured gifts to William A. Watertown man sentenced for assault on two boys

George Lattimer, 22, of Watertown, was sentenced in circuit court after pleading guilty to assaulting two young boys. He had escaped from Codington county jail in September but was recaptured in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Hoover Plea to Lawyers to Defend Government

President Hoover urged members of the American Bar Association to defend the government against assaults by designing individuals. South Dakota Relief Loan Authorized by Reconstruction Corp

The Reconstruction Finance Corporation granted emergency relief loans totaling 280,695 dollars to South Dakota for 40 counties from October 1 to November 15 and 205,000 dollars to Washington state for Grays Harbor County from October 1 to December 31. The approval cited urgent drought relief and work relief project needs as justification. The 40 counties in South Dakota were not named in the release.

Hunter Beaten After Bear Escapes Near Seattle

Seattle on October 13 12 Hunter Frank Simpson cafe owner was critically injured in a hospital after firing at a bear missing and the bear fled. Another hunter berated him for missing and a quarrel followed. Simpson says he was struck with a gun butt and toppled over a 5 foot chair injuring his back. Police seek the assailant described by Simpson.

First Aid Class Open To Leaders

Beadle county Red Cross offers a first aid course for Boy Scout and Girl Scout leaders taught by Dr. John H. Faust. Classes begin Tuesday October 18 at 7 30 p m in the Chamber of Commerce rooms above J C Penney and continue weekly for about two hours. Aimed at preventing injuries and proper treatment, the course also teaches leaders how to instruct their scouts. It is one of the requirements for the scoutmaster's key. open to adults and 16 and 17 year old junior leaders. Girl Scout and Girl Reserve leaders invited. no enrollment fee. cost is a first aid textbook.
