Mellette high school students plan two fall programs to raise funds for the school memorial and music department. A October 24 show features one act plays and musical numbers, while November 28 will be an all school program with diverse acts. Mellette Woman Learns Mother’s Death in Texas
Mellette Oct. 9. Mrs. A. R. Marshall of Mellette has received word that her mother Mrs. S. C. Shaw died in Houston Texas after a illness of high blood pressure. Mrs. Shaw had been visiting Mellette at the Marshall home for over a year and had just left for Texas when she fell ill.

Former Groton student injured in car wreck
Groton, Oct. 9 Special Mal colm Pat Holleran a former Groton high school cage star was injured while driving to Aberdeen when blinding lights of an approaching car caused him to leave the road. The car turned troge in the ditch. He was taken to an Aberdeen hospital by a passing motorist. Aside from loss of blood from a severed artery in the forehead his injuries were not considered dangerous. The car was badly wrecked.
