Built at a cost of 175,060 pounds it will treat Missouri River water and be ready to send water into the mains by Saturday. About a million gallons passed the test with all details working. The plant draws river water via a bridge pier intake, mixes with chemicals to remove vegetation and refuse, filters, chlorinates, and then pumps into the mains. The new equipment is among the river’s finest waterworks plants, replacing the artesian plant operating since the 1880s.
