Condemnation Bids Land For Highway Curve On Road 14
Beadle County commissioners condemned 1.38 acres owned by H F Wetrick west of the Fair Grounds for highway No 14. The land, needed to form a more gradual curve for paving planned six and a half miles west of Huron this summer, was appraised by a board after terms failed. Wetrick may protest within 10 days and may appoint an appraiser. if not, Clarke Lampe and Augustine will decide. Wetrick had asked 35000 for trees and land, which the board deemed excessive. Separately, the east pavement project east of Huron opened to traffic, totaling 5.58 miles from Simmons Ave to three miles west of Cavour. The final stretch across the James River bottom was completed this spring, with possible delays to June 15 for concrete work. Road must be finished by September 1.
