Army Pilot Killed as Plane Crashes Near Marlette

An army airplane exploded and crashed five miles west of Marlette today killing Second Lieutenant Barton McClure 27 of Selfridge Field. The accident occurred around midday with authorities touring the scene and notifying next of kin. The cause was not yet determined and an investigation was planned.

Unlicensed dog held. potential destruction at pound

An unlicensed dog described as a small rat terrier and half fox terrier was taken to the dog pound for safekeeping. Police reported that if the animal remains unclaimed, it will be destroyed. Chief Nelson noted the incident and urged claim by owners.

College Annual Rubaiyat Presented At Meeting

At this morning's student association meeting the 1939 Rubaiyat edition was presented to the student body. Amos Hofer, editor, praised staff support including Glenn Parker, Marvin Frainman, and Paul Hokm. The edition was dedicated to Joan I. Pasch with a copy formally presented to Mr Pasek. Awards honored Macel Eggleston, William Cameron, June Sherburn, and Rollyn Moseson. The yearbook features colored campus scenes and a new cover design.
