Hog prices advance with steady to 10 cent gains while cattle and lamb trades mix. Hog receipts run about 9,000 with top at 7.25 and most 180 to 250 pound hogs selling around 7.00 to 7.20. Cattle and sheep markets show mixed moves with heavy weight cattle weaker, midweight steady, vealers strong, and lambs fairly active but mostly steady.

Sioux City and St Paul markets show cattle and hogs mixed. Cattle receipts around 3 000 in St Paul with yearlings up to 9.50 and slaughter steers steady to lower, cows weak to lower. hogs opened steady to weak with 180 240 lb bids near 6.65, sows around 5.60. Sheep around 3 000 with fat lamb trade not yet established.

1939 Tigers Are Distributed Today

Copies of the 1939 Tiger, the Huron High School annual, were distributed to students today. The 106 page volume, produced by Huron Publishing Company, is the largest annual yet. It features black feathered gold embossing, extensive artwork by Carroll Brown, and lithograph inserts. Walter J. Bachman supervised the publishing job department.

Hull Declares Threats Increase Amid Budget Hearings

Secretary Hull told Congress threats to U S interests are rising in number and seriousness as he testified on the annual supply bill for state justice and commerce. The full committee recommended 121 million for the three departments, trimming 1.4 million from the subcommittee’s request and leaving a total well above the current year’s appropriations. The bill includes about 20 million for the 1940 census and outlines costs for a two year census task.

Myers Not Guilty On Liquor Charge

A municipal court jury found Marion A. Myers not guilty of selling liquor on Sunday at the Myers Corner cigar store after a brief deliberation. The defense argued the impounded bottle may have been associated with a barber shop in Myers basement. Alvin Kenny pleaded guilty to a broken seal charge and awaits sentencing. A second case involved Harry Schroeder charged with drunken driving. testimony continued as the city rested its case.

Insurance Executives Confer on South Dakota Survey

J. C. Hatfield of Union Central Life Insurance Company of Cincinnati and B. G. Weese, farm management director for the same firm, visited Huron yesterday to discuss a Fortune magazine survey. They left Cincinnati after a day in Huron. Union Central owns 800 farms in South Dakota valued at about $300,600.

Joint Recital at Huron College Tonight
