Iowa U to Speak at Northern Normal Commencement

The Cavour senior class staged its annual class play to a large audience. A large audience attended Wolsey high school’s senior class play Kempy on March 1. Observe Music Week In Wessington Springs

Members of the Wessington Springs Music club and city students marked national music week with a program led by Prof. L J Phillips of the college. Mrs Phillips accompanied the program with piano, and Kiwanis members heard two numbers. The program featured vocal solos by Mrs W R Stockstad and Mrs R W Gibson, and an instrumental duet by Mrs R J Cook and Mrs J Calverly.

Father Pays Off Boys Fine In Brookings Alcohol Case

In Brookings county a father settled the $765.20 in fines and costs for his son Henry Gorecki and school teacher Raymond Alcorn who pleaded guilty to transportation of alcohol. The two received $350 fines each plus $65.20 costs and a confiscated Ford car. The total loss exceeded $1,000 with five gallons of alcohol valued at $75 and attorney fees for the youths.

Governor Grants Early Parole For First Degree Robbery Case

May 14 report states Hor ton, convicted of first degree robbery in Hutchinson county and jailed since February 1928, received a reduction from five to two and one half years on the state penitentiary sentence by Governor Bulow after the pardon board's recommendation. Gas Wells Heat Homes on Sully County Farm

E D Sutton, a Sully County farmer, drilled a two inch natural gas well twenty years ago and now uses the gas to heat two houses a hop house and shop and to light his buildings. He estimates he uses less than half the gas and plans to run a farm engine with the remainder.
