Arnold Olsho, a junior at Eastern State Teachers college, has been elected president for 1929 80. He is a letterman and has captained the basketball team for two seasons. Olsho is active in Phi Sigma Pi, the Science club, and the Masque cast.
Mothers Guests Of Wayland Girls Honor Mothers Day
Wayland May 14 special Mothers were guests of honor at a banquet in the Wayland community hall hosted by the Girl Reserve organization. Tables for forty featured blue triangle emblems and flowering plants as centerpieces. Mrs Alice Byers acted as toastmaster with responses from Girl Reserve members. Doris Olson and others offered vocal solos. Mildred Ballantyna gave a short talk on the history of Mothers Day.

Vermillion May 14. Cash prizes and scholarships totaling over 985 plus medals and trophies will be presented at the University of South Dakota commencements on June 10. Annual donors include Vermillion banks offering 200 in prizes for excellence in debate and oratory. The First National Bank awards 100 split among graduates with intercollegiate debate ability. Vermillion National Bank alternates with that prize for the same purpose.

Seniors Plan Minneapolis Trip From South Dakota State

Special Fire at Heron Street Factory
A fire broke out at a factory on Heron Street causing smoke and flames visible from a half mile away. Fire crews from nearby stations battled the blaze through the night, preventing spread to adjacent buildings. No injuries were reported as of the morning update.

HOT SPRINGS May 14 Bert Ray Oral rancher has invented a tractor draw bar cultivator exciting interest. The machine attaches to a tractor drawbar and plows two uniform rows at once. It is a four way device carrying discs shovels and surface knives that can be set as a bean cutter and handles two full rows at a time.
