Sanborn Pupils Honored for Scholastic Improvement
County Superintendent Kermit C. Johnson announced a list of Sanborn County rural school students who showed the greatest scholastic improvement in the fifth six week period. The names span many towns including Afton Floyd Jackson Warren Woonsocket Silver Creek Benedict Diana Union Logan Twin Lake Ravenna St Joseph Oneida Butler and others, highlighting a broad statewide effort to reward effort and progress among young learners.

Whiteside School captured first with 99 points in the invitational field meet at Whiteside School last week. Bonilla placed second with 2 points, Wolsey third with 7, and McNeil fourth with 3. Individual event winners include S Bales and Eldon DeShazer for Whiteside in boys sprints and jumps, with Phyllis Morse and Joyce DeShazer among top girls performers for Bonilla and Whiteside respectively.

Girl Scouts to Meet Boy Scouts For Joint Pot Luck
Lakotah Troop No. 1 held a Monday meeting opening with announcements. They plan a joint pot luck supper with Boy Scouts next Tuesday and will perform folk dances previously chosen. Girls were appointed for the dances and the gathering closed with Taps and Rum Along Home.

Doland Rural School Holds Annual Sports Day
About 300 rural pupils attended Doland's Manual Sports Day on Saturday. Morning events included registration, classification, and kiltennials games. Emma Hofer’s school won the largest attendance trophy and led the field meet with 47 points and the relay. Classified results list top placers in broad jump and 50 yard dash across classes for boys and girls, with Delbert Paul’s team defeating Marvin Swain in the kitentall game.

Bird Houses Made By Tyrrell Pupils In Craft Drive
Tyrrell School pupils built bird houses and a bath to attract birds around the schoolhouse. Works were painted in varied colors and one nest was noted. Marzuerite Greenan of Foster District No. 4 School notes the project and calls it bird town.
