Large throngs gathered at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron for the final rites of Father John Gaire a 34 year old priest fatally injured in an auto crash last Monday A friend of his boyhood days Father J P O Mahoney preached and recalled Gaire's life of service after his ordination in Ireland eight years ago.

New York May 12 The joint bargaining committee for United Mine Workers of America CIO and Appalachian operators reached a draft contract after eight weeks of deadlock. NEW YORK May 12 Mercy killer 45 year old Liner Greenfield acquitted of manslaughter in the death of his 16 year old son Jerome after four hour deliberation. He planned a new life with his wife and possibly an adopted son to replace the boy they “loved more than anyone.” Greenfield testified he chloroformed his son on January 12 amid voices urging him to end the boy’s suffering and it was God’s will.

Pair Found With Car Near Sioux Falls in Murder Suicide

Victims identified as Clara Olson and Earl Ward, a garage operator and stenographer, were found mortally wounded near a roadside car north of Sioux Falls.
