Lane high school will send six teams to the State Smith-Hughes contest at Brookings May 10-11. Teams cover cream judging poultry culling stock judging dairy cattle judging milk judging and farm shop. Sophomores Arthur Erickson Ralph Meink William Schroeder Carl Rau and Claude Miller represent the school in most contests. freshmen Elmer Scheel Clement Vogel Martin Schroeder Howard Burg and Orvis Blaalid are candidates with alternates named. Lane won the sweepstakes banner last year.
Acquit Kadoka Men of Arson Charge
Kadoka May 9 Roy Boyce and J R Peters were acquitted by a circuit court jury of arson after a sensational trial. The jury deliberated under two hours before reaching a verdict. The men were charged with setting fire to a Kadoka business.
