Matching Borrowed Funds Face May Welfare Shortfall
RAPID CITY May B 1P P Crow- Re state welfare commissioner says no assurance old age benefits will be paid for May and June despite a $100,000 loan. Federal matching money is pending Congress action, so counties may still struggle to cover April payments and care for the land needy. Crowl e notes that even with federal funds, only about half of April payments could be met, leaving counties to use local funds to ease shortfalls.
