Darrow Attacks Illinois Court Reform at State Hearing
Clarence Darrow visited Springfield to oppose proposed Illinois court reform bills backed by the Bar Association and the jury, calling the reform effort a long-standing attempt to expand judiciary power. He argued the changes would rush ordinary cases and favor special interests, clashing with opponents including State Sens Roy Barbour and others. The exchange featured sharp dialogue with a state prosecutor and judges expressing surprise at Darrow's criticisms.
