Honor List For First Six Weeks Of Second Semester

The Huron city schools announce the first six weeks honor list for the second semester. Students must have at least four fundamental subjects with a grade of 90 or higher to qualify. The list includes pupils from McKinley, Junior High, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Senior High, Wilson School, and additional entries.

John Drew Recovers After Major Surgery in Rochester

John Drew, once a Highmore boy and later a Huron resident, is reported to be recovering satisfactorily from a critical operation in Rochester Hospital. Surgeons replaced damaged vertebrae with bone from his leg. Recovery will be slow. Mrs. Drew has been with him in Rochester for several weeks. the couple reside in Rapid City.

Underclass Students To Give Annual Dance

Freshmen and sophomores at State College will hold their annual dance March 11. Decorations will be green and white in keeping with St. Patrick s day. Freshmen in State ROTC crack platoon organized

Ten freshmen are named to the newly formed crack platoon of the State college ROTC unit drilled by Lieut. Norman Slater of Watertown. The group, first of its kind at the college, may become permanent with Scabbard and Blade sponsoring. City Commission Proceedings in Huron South Dakota

City commissioners met in February with roll call minutes read and approved. Bills recommended for payment include Ravine Park payroll and W. J. Stewart. A proposed Milk Ordinance received second reading, passing on roll call. A resolution urged increasing Reconstruction Finance Corporation funds for Ravine Park Dam to employ 12 days per month, boosting family earnings to about $21, with governor and board notified. No further business. meeting adjourned.
