The South Dakota state pardon board today recommended one general pardon four commutations and rejected one pardon application. Amos White admitted to the penitentiary December 29 1928 from Roberts county for two years eight months for mayhem was recommended for conditional pardon with conditions on conduct and monthly reports. Ernest Ross Ivan Warbis and Lyle Warbis from Perkins county for grand larceny were commuted from two years six months to 21 months. Peter La Deaux from Gregory county for grand larceny saw his five year term cut to three and a half years. William Larson from Brown county sentenced April 21 1921 to life imprisonment for murder was rejected.
Justice Sanford Dies Suddenly on Heart Attack
Justice Edward T. Sanford of the U S Supreme Court died at his home in Washington today after a sudden illness. He was rushed from a dentist chair to his residence, with signs pointing to a heart attack and possible contributing uremic poisoning. The Knoxville native, appointed in 1923 by President Harding, had been in his fifth year on the high court as colleagues and officials react with shock.
