Clayton Rogers Sr a survivor of the New Ulm Minnesota massacre and one of the last stage coach drivers and frontier mule skinners in the Black Hills will be buried here tomorrow. He was 72 and lived on a homestead near New Ulm. In 1816 he began freight work between Bismarck and Deadwood and claimed to hauled ore stamps for Homestake at Lead. He later ran a mule train and supplied lumber for Camp Rubles Fort Meade and drove for Northwestern Stage between Rapid City Deadwood and Pierre. He carried gold bullion for Homestake and survived several running fights with Indians before the railroad ended his stage line career. Born in New York in 1858.
