In Gdynia Poland reports said a German military plane was fired on by Polish coast artillery near the Danzig corridor. Berlin denied any plane was shot down amid rumors. The Express Telegraph Agency said 1400 civilian-clad men entered Danzig from East Prussia, bringing 2400 total for a free corps.

South Dakota Young Republicans, several hundred strong, left Huron after two day East River convention pledging to tell voters about Republican accomplishments. National Young GOP Chairman Donald Hornbeck urged action to win the nation back to Americanism. Governor Bushfield spoke at the banquet, praised as the greatest governor in the nation, amid enthusiastic crowds.

Huron Stores To Close For Fourth of July Celebration

Huron will observe a weeklong Fourth of July celebration starting July 5 at the Fair Grounds. The American Legion carnival, Art B. Thomas shows, midway performances, grandstand acts, and barnery dances will fill evenings while most offices and stores close for the holiday.

Large Land Case Split Between Rail, Government

In Spokane on June 28, Judge J Stanley Webster approved a historic settlement in the Northern Pacific land grant case. The decree partitions nearly three million acres nearly equally, granting 1,363,000 acres to the government and 1,350,000 acres to the Northern Pacific Railroad. Special Assistant Attorney General Norman M Littell noted the railroad had earned about 205 million dollars from grant lands and spent 68 million on building the line, while the railroad lost a claim to 315,000 acres in the Crow Indian reservation of Montana.

Windstorm Destroys Barns Near Bonilla After Severe Storm

A high wind and vivid electric display accompanied a rainstorm in Central South Dakota last evening. Up to three inches of rain drenched areas north of Bonilla, while Wolsey to Redfield saw the heaviest wind damage with 47 telephone poles broken. A barn and shed on the Roy Fierce farm were flattened and the D D Minion barn partially wrecked. A dust storm in northwestern Yeadie County reduced visibility, and lightning destroyed a barn near Lake Preston. Authorities note crops largely spared in northwestern areas.

Clipper Opens Transatlantic Service From Port Washington

The Dixie Clipper, a 41-ton Pan American flying boat, left Port Washington at 2 10 p m to inaugurate regular transatlantic passenger service. Twenty two passengers and a crew of eleven aboard bound for Horta Lisbon and Marseille. Pan American plans weekly flights from Port Washington via the Azores or via Shediac Botwood Newfoundland and Foynes to Southampton with a fare of 375 dollars one way and 675 dollars round trip. Galento In Car Collision Shakes Newark Crowd

The Newark Star-Eagle reports Tony Galento, heavyweight challenger, was badly shaken in an auto accident in New York City after weighing in for tonight's title fight with Joe Louis at Yankee Stadium. An examination found no serious injuries. Galento, his trainer, and two New York state troopers were in a touring car that collided with another vehicle.
