Torrential Rains Sweep Northwest Flood Warning Issued

Torrential rains drenched sections of the northwest with 1.64 inches in Minneapolis and 1.37 inches at Streeter. A flood warning was issued on the Chippewa River with an anticipated 11 feet at Durand, Wisconsin. Forecaster A. D. Sanial noted no wide property damage yet and predicted more showers in northeast Minnesota with warmer statewide temperatures. Additional rainfall totals included 0.44 inches at Duluth 0.28 at Dickinson North Dakota and 0.31 at Fargo North Dakota.

Camp Rapid Huron Guards Triumph In Joust For Championships

Company OC 109th Engineers win Camp Champions title at Camp Rapid in Rapid City. Strong pitching by Sig Kulawik and heavy hitting by Johnnie Bottomley and Don Byerly give Huron Guards a 10 1 lead over Battery A Aber deen during a summer encampment. Byerly homered and Bottomley drove in runs as the team racks up a commanding win and captures both Camp Kittenball and Regimental championships. Rapid City June 22. Despite a brief shower opening bout national guard mitt slingers battled on a slippery canvas at Kennedy Stadium last night for titles in seven weight divisions in the Camp Rapid boxing tournament. Former Huronian Dickey Killed in Northfield Accident

Charles Dickey 16, son of Mr and Mrs Burton F Dickey of Northfield Minnesota, formerly of Huron, died after a coupe carrying seven high school boys collided with a truck in Northfield Monday. Dickey suffered brain concussion and cerebral hemorrhage and died an hour after the crash at Northfield Hospital. He was a cousin of Burton and Ernest Fidler and related to Mr Jr Wright and Mrs J L Foxtom of Huron.
