In ROCKMART GA June 2044 two men Bill Hutsey and his son Fred were held on suspicion after three youths Cliff Jones Line Harper and Ernest McCullough were found dead near a dry well six miles east of town. An inquest was ordered by Coroner B H Leonhard into the mutilated bodies. Police investigate a possible gambling brawl motive as more arrests were expected. Contract to Drill for Oil at Standing Butte
Pierre June 2. Completion of a contract between the South Dakota Development and Refining Company and the Southwest Petroleum Company of Minneapolis for drilling a well near Standing Butte in Stanley county was announced today by directors. Drilling to reach at least 6000 feet if no oil is found sooner. Start by November. Engine Hits Car Fatally Wounds Driver and Injures Others
In Sioux Falls a car collided with a switch engine injuring two passengers and fatally wounding driver Clifford Capps, 21. Rauscher Begins 15 Year Term in Sioux Falls
John Rauscher started a 15 year prison term for robbing Beadle county treasurer. He was driven to the South Dakota penitentiary handcuffed and in leg shackles by Deputy Sheriff A J Larsen.
