CCC Boys Lose Savings In Fire
A fire at the Savoy CCC camp in Spearfish Canyon destroyed the personal belongings of 35 enrollees including three youths mustered out July 1 and their savings for civilian life. The blaze started at 5 p.m. as others fought a forest fire on Annie Creek, aided by camp staff and workers away at insect control in the Black Hills National Forest.

About 20 boys from the Redfield FFA chapter left on a five day excursion with instructor in agriculture R. V. Diggas and Coach A. Hadorff on Sunday morning. They travel to Northern Minnesota to study agricultural conditions and enjoy a short vacation. Each summer the group plans a trip, following last year’s visit to Yellowstone Park and the Black Hills, with funds raised through boxing matches and individual projects.

SUA FALLS June 7 UP Mariy Maiden 33 Spencer Ta was held in the city jail Tuesday in connection with the theft of a 350 watch from the W. OW Clements residence. She was formerly employed at the Clements home as a maid. Police officers brought her here from Spencer last night. Detective Maurice Nelson said the watch had been located and was in the mails addressed to the police department.
