Washington June 1 the Townsend pension bill was defeated 302 to 97. The tally shows forty Democrats and fifty-five Republicans voting for the bill with one Progressive and one Farmer-Labor member. 194 Democrats and 107 Republicans plus one American-Labor member voted against. No New Money To Be Borrowed By U S This Summer
Secretary Morgenthau announced the treasury will issue no new money this summer, canceling plans to borrow anew. Huronian's Mother Injured In Mishap
Mrs. Peter J. Moen of Starbuck Minnesota suffered a broken arm and minor injuries when her car collided with Emmet Sietke of Arlington fixing a flat tire on highway 14 near Brookings. She, her husband and daughter Mary Horton were en route to visit the Hortons in Huron and are receiving care at Brookings Hospital. Sietke sustained a broken leg and other injuries in the crash.
