Farmers Adopt Safer Program in South Dakota

South Dakota farmers joined the 1932 and 1938 Agricultural Conservation programs planting hundreds of thousands of acres in soil conserving and forage crops. Alfred R. Barnes states the effort included contour farming and strip cropping with thousands of acres of range land reseeded and new forage supplies near record levels to buffer droughts and pest outbreaks.

Sioux Falls Band To Play For King In New York Saturday

Sioux Falls Washington High School Band will perform in New York City for the king and queen of England. Directed by Arthur R. Thompson the 89 members, averaging just over 16, will give a two hour concert at 11 AM after a 3,200 mile trip from Sioux Falls. The band was named official by New York World's Fair officials for the event.
