Governors and lieutenant governor as hosts and representatives
The piece argues that the lieutenant governor could represent the state at social functions when the governor is unavailable. It suggests inviting both leaders to events, building a custom that the governor’s invitation implies the lieutenant governor will represent him. It notes travel is political, aimed at votes, and the governor could choose to decline if needed.
