Heat toll rises to 338 with 16 states hit by extreme temperatures. Huron Welcomes Sharp Break From Heat Wave

Temperatures in Huron drop sharply after a near record heat wave as a morning shower cools the city. Stephen Early said Johnson resigned yesterday and headed to Bohemian Grove. Patterson, a Republican and WWI veteran, has served as federal judge since 1939 and is training as a buck private at Plattsburg to support national defense.

London reports a German motor torpedo boat sank the French 6,127 ton Meknes near Portland last night with an estimated 300 to 450 lives lost. Wallace to Stay Out Of Campaign Until Notification
