Emil Maass Heads Yale School Board

Emil Maass was elected president of the Yale school board at its organization meeting this week. Other officers named were Mrs. James F. Smith as vice president Willis Bogh as secretary Albert Maass Sr as treasurer. Maass succeeds J E O Keefe who moved to De Smet. J D Kaufman was chosen auditor. Other board members are Mrs Charles Lemke Jake Stahl and John K Hofer. One teaching staff position remains to be filled with applicants considered but no decision reached.

Home from hospital in Wellington shows improvement

Harriet Parker returned to her Wellington home Sunday after several weeks as a patient at a Huron hospital. She is reported to be in greatly improved health.

Funeral Held For John H. Muilenburg

Funeral services were conducted in Manchester Presbyterian Church for John H. Muilenburg 83 who died last Saturday at his daughter's home. Rev. A Culver Gordon officiated with burial in Iroquois cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers and a vocal quartet provided music. numerous relatives attended from Orange City Mitchell Sioux Center Rock Valley Huron Edgerton Corsica and nearby communities.

Miss Martha Lapke and Mrs Keck hosted their bridge club at the Lapke home on Monday evening. After a dessert luncheon, prizes went to Mrs C L Curry and Mrs John Cook for high, Mrs A M McKay for traveling, and Mrs B B Conway for the congulation. A farewell purse was given to Mrs Curry as she moves to Frederick where Mr Curry has joined an elevator company.

Make Survey Of IS D Minerals In South Dakota

Vermillion July 13. Fourteen geologists engineers and assistants from the State Geological Survey are at work in South Dakota studying mineral resources. The survey, authorized by the 1939 legislature, uses an old unused appropriation. Field work includes an appraisal of bentonite.

Two teams start geophysical and planetable surveys across the state. Dr M E Wing leads from Belle Fourche, Dr R C Spivey guides from Ardmore, and Dr W H Jordan conducts imagnometer work from the University of South Dakota. Mitchell hosts a structural survey under Dr J P Gries. Results planned for next winter in a comprehensive mineral resources report.
