Pheasant Paradise plates offered by Huron Chamber drive summer travel

The Huron Chamber of Commerce tourist and publicity committees chaired by Roy J. Miller start distributing 500 enameled automobile plates featuring a pheasant design and the slogan Huron Pheasant Paradise of America. Plates cost 25 cents each or 50 cents per pair and will be sold at the secretary's office and at local service stations. A later fall contest will crown Huron's 1940 Pheasant Queen with an all expense paid trip to Chicago. The note adds that the first streamlined locomotive, built in 1489 and reaching 110 mph, is on view at the Smithsonian Institution.
