Poultry Won't Rid Hoppers Says Poultry Won’t Rid Hoppers
Brookings January report quotes South Dakota State entomologist George Gilbertson: poultry cannot eradicate grasshoppers. Chickens and turkeys may help in light infestations when used early, with portable coops moved to egg hatch areas and diets supplemented by grain to sustain the birds. Under major outbreaks, poultry alone won’t stop crop damage.
