Farm price trend remains downward with uneven gains

Brookings reports January to early February saw farm prices fall further with the index down six points in four weeks through February 10. While apples, cattle, lambs, and chickens rose slightly, declines in dairy, poultry, grains, cotton, and hogs kept overall prices weak. The government notes slow employment and weak demand limit any near-term price recovery.

Robbers Take 485-Pound Safe From Garage

Lake county officers probe a Chester garage robbery in which a safe weighing 485 pounds was removed after breaking a window. The burglars took about 300 dollars in cash and 100 dollars in checks before fleeing half a mile away. A check of the scene showed only the safe’s contents were touched with fingerprints found at the garage.
