Hitchcock residents donate eggs for drought relief
Forty-two cases of eggs were contributed by Hitchcock area residents to aid drought sufferers. The eggs were shipped south to Huron and included with a carload of provisions.

IWarian Nixon, Grant Withers, John Halliday, Helen Ferguson and others appear. adapted from a Samuel Shipman and John B. Hymer play with dialogue by Maude Fulton and directed by Ray Enright.
Buck Jones film opens today drawing local audience to a screening after war veterans and other groups mingle. The piece notes veterans who served in Europe gained geography and cultural insights while civilians learn about returning soldiers and east meets west in shared cinema experience.

Friday and Saturday Little Caesar with Douglas Fairbanks Jr and Edward Robinson. Bijou schedule includes Men Without Law with Buck Jones, Scarlet Pages with Marion Nixon Grant Withers, Captain Appleach with John Haliday and Mary Brian.
The Publix vaudeville at the Huron theater features Johnny Ashton's band returning Monday and Tuesday with new acts. Miss Dorothy Bush resumes as mistress of ceremonies alongside Grauman Hess & Vallee the Roberts Sisters Burt Byron and a feature film Kiss Me Again starring Edward Everett Horton and Bernice Claire.
The Cat Creeps, adapted from John Willard as The Cat and the Canary, headlines the Huron theater lineup with a midnight preview tonight and Sunday. Helen Twelvetrees leads an all star cast including Raymond Hackett Neil Hamilton Lilyan Tashman Jean Her shelt Montagu Love Lawrence Grant Theodore Von Eltz Blanche Frederici Elizabeth Patterson. Rupert Julian directs a tale of a mansion, a will read at midnight and a swift stream of laughs and thrills culminating in a daylight revelation. The Cat Creeps builds on the Ghostly suspense of the stage classic with a creepy atmosphere and hair raising moments as mystery and terror unfold.
Those receiving marriage licenses in Miller the week of February 16 include Henry Gield and Edna Grinnell both of Chamberlain, Charles Emnester of Tulare, Saydie Bringner of Sioux Falls, Dudley Hoisington of Miller, and Susic k of Miller.
Winifred Webster of Woonsocket stars as Patricia Harrington in The Patsy at State college presented by the Athenian Literary society. Patricia clashes with Grace over a shared romance with Tony Anderson as Billy Caldwell complicates family plans. The comedy features Margaret Townsend, Delmar Spicer, Vivian Swenson, Wendell Atwater, Marion Kebb and others under Harold Jordan's coaching.
Eight Huron churches issue a joint invitation to strangers and transients to attend services during Lent leading to Easter Sunday April 5. The ministers urge regular attendance and active participation, naming seven local pastors and churches in a unified appeal.
The Sew and the Best Better 4H club met at Mrs. Everts home February 13 with all members present. Mrs. Harvey led a sewing stitches demonstration. Garment and laundry bags were shown and inspected. Kathleen Cooner won a prize in a contest. Next meeting will be at Dorothy Swans home. A lunch was served by Margaret Everts, club reporter.
About 109 members of the Eastern Star and Masonic lodges gathered at the Presbyterian church dining room for a banquet honoring the worthy grand matron. A large crowd attended a special Eastern Star meeting held that evening afterward.
Paul Shore and Mabel Lane of Blunt were married in Pierre this week. Shore is the oldest son of William Shore living north of Blunt, while Lane is the daughter of Forrest and Mrs Lane living east of Blunt. The community offers congratulations and best wishes.
Miss Lillian Geiver entertained club members at her apartment with bridge as the main diversion. High score went to Miss Beatrice Hurley. At 11 the hostess and her sister Miss Lydia Geiver served a lunch. Miller Jatl note reports no arrests in town this winter.
