Upturn in Business Likely In 1931 Says Outlook
Brookings February 13. The Agricultural Outlook for 1931 from South Dakota State College Extension Service predicts a possible business upturn in 1931 after a July 1929 decline. End-1930 production and payrolls were about 35 percent below 1929 peaks, dampening farm demand. The report cautions that a permanent turning point is not yet definite and that early 1991 shows little price improvement, though improved US business and employment could lift agricultural demand by late 1931 and 1932, with foreign demand helping as well.
