Government Takes Steps To Aid Yet In Securing Job
Washington editors outline postwar job plans linking veteran reemployment with industrial reconversion and demobilization. A central boss will coordinate reconversion, with Byrnes or Baruch as possibilities, working with War Manpower, Selective Service, and non governmental committees to reach a target of 50 million postwar jobs. Gradual demobilization and phased programs depend on war’s progress and Pacific emphasis shaping civilian labor needs.

Teachers Training Accelerated At S D University
Vermillion December 24 Plans at the State University allow spring 1944 high school graduates to finish for a state general teaching certificate and begin teaching in fall 1945 by taking two six week summer sessions in 1944 and 1945 plus the 1944-45 school year. The accelerated plan cuts one year from the former two year program and enables rural and town schools to hire sooner. The four year certificate track remains, with graduates of 1944 able to finish by March 1947 and teach in high schools within about two years and nine months.
