Berlin Flames In Seventh Big Raid

Berlin suffered the seventh major RAF bombing in five weeks as night bombers struck the city before dawn. More than 1,120 U.S. tons of explosive and incendiaries ignited fires across sections of Berlin, with roughly 18,000 tons dropped on the capital for the year. Casualties among RAF flyers were light, and German fighter losses appeared heavy in earlier raids.

Sioux City Youths Die In Car Crash

Sioux City Ia December 24 four seven two youths died in a car crash on highway 29 north of the city. Harold Anderson 16, driver, suffered skull fracture. Parents Herman and Mrs Anderson and Mrs Wilima were identified among others injured. The vehicle reportedly was to be sold today and the getaway appears linked to a Christmas shopping trip gone wrong.

Validity Dates Of Stamps Given

The Office of Price Administration announced validity dates for more food ration stamps. In ration book three Brown stamps V W and a third stamp become valid in late January and early February with expiration dates in February and March. Green stamps G H J in ration book four become valid May 1 and good through February 20. Existing green stamps D E F remain valid for processed foods through February 20.
