Hundreds of RAT bombers hit the German chemical and armament center at Frankfurt dumping 2000 long tons of incendiaries and explosives. The Allies reported heavy losses of bombers but said the front air offensive against Germany intensified with attacks on Anheim Ludwigshafen and Sofia, among others.

Embargo Lifted At Armour Plant

The embargo on marketing hogs at Armour & Company was lifted this morning said G. E. Mackey general manager. The plant will accept hogs only under the permit system with sellers contacting the buying department before loading. Mackey reported 2,600 live hogs on hand and expects steady market control through today's intake.

Ex-State Legislator Nesby Dies at 86 in Dell Rapids

Andrew D. Nesby, 86, former city councilman and longtime justice of the peace, served as senate serjeant at arms in the 1933 and 1935 state legislative sessions. He was a past grand patriarch in the Gadd Fellows. Funeral tentatively scheduled for Thursday.

Huron Hotel Blaze Destroys Royal Landmark

A early morning fire destroyed the Royal Hotel in Huron after flames spread from coal bins. Owner Mrs Barbara Tams reported all 58 occupants escaped. some guests remained unidentified. Fire officials described a basement blast after firefighters left the area.

Royal Hotel Built in Huron Amid Capital Bid

The four story Royal Hotel began in 1889 during Huron's bid to become South Dakota's capital. Brick from a local yard by Phillips and Bartlett supported the structure financed by the Huron Hotel Co led by A B Melville. Picire won the capital, ending the hotel’s capital dream.
