South Dakota 4-H Members Earn Honors at Chicago Congress

South Dakota 4-H representatives at the national club congress in Chicago earned multiple honors led by Edna Mae Drake and the home furnishings judging team from Brookings. Additional placements include blue ribbons for Helen Bones in complete costume wool, fifth in fouds judging, and fourth in potato exhibit entries.

Titonka Troop 6 Crafts Christmas Gifts and Carol

The Titonka Troop 6 met at Wesley Hall on Monday to work on Christmas crafts. Mrs. Dunbar showed can dies sold by the Girl Scout Council, with green and white colors. The girls sang carols and created a new carol titled Once Unto the Shepherds by Mrs. Gay-Nor. Next week the party moves to Mrs. Durbar's home at 1252 Illinois Avenue Southwest for a history of Christmas carols, with Miss Null as alter. Names were exchanged for gifts and Christmas cards were distributed.

Scout Troop Plans Christmas Activities and Elections

Scout Troop 4 of Boy Scouts of America held a Tuesday meeting at the Congregational Church basement to plan Christmas baskets and gifts, a party, caroling, and the election of new officers and leaders. Officers elected include Gordon Andersen, John McCord, Alva Taylor, Bob McNamara, Walter Bachman, Den Harris, Eddie Taylor, Charles Ruthquist, Calvin Cox, with C. P. Parrott continuing as Scoutmaster and Walter Bechman Sr. as Assistant Scoutmaster.

Whittier League Elects New Officers for Christmas Program

Devona Armstrong reports Whittier League elected officers after a meeting led by Lyla McPier. Arnie Kleinsasser becomes president with Esther Baseman as vice president and Williard Klein­sasser as secretary-treasurer. A Christmas program is planned for December 21 at 8 p.m. Various members were appointed to pull curtains, sell tickets, and handle candy sales, with committees formed for chores.

Regu lar meeting elevates Richland No 2 School league

Richland No 2 School held its regular CL meeting and elected Alois Eckmann as president. Marvin Eckmann became vice president, Delores Beck secretary, and Dareld Eckmann treasurer. The league added more than 412 to its treasury from a Thanksgiving program and will fund rhythm band records. Clair Leonardt is the sole pupil without absences or tardies this year as students prepare Christmas gifts and decorations during state time.

Beadle Council Sets 10 Goals for 4-H Scrapbook Project

Beadle County Council outlined a 4-H scrapbook plan at its regular meeting. Norma Cranston will edit with De Etta Derscheid as associate editor and Lorraine Burnside as photographer. Ten goals include 85 percent year-end completion and all members promoting a new club, plus improved attendance and broader county event representation. The next meeting is January 3 at Lloyd Hill's home.

Viola Maas Elected League President at Gowen Banner Meeting
