The national law enforcement commission plans a multipart study starting September 4 to analyze crime causes, police and judicial systems, penal institutions, and government law enforcement conduct. Chicago University and experts will aid a yearlong effort with eleven phases and possible late winter public hearings.

Two Injured As Cyclone Storm Totals Reach Groton

Groton August 27 two people were injured when a barn on the Leona Stange farm five miles southwest of Groton was razed by a cyclonic storm. Leona Stange 23 and Mathew Brown 11 suffered injuries from debris and a fallen concrete slab. Insurance estimates place total losses between 10 000 and 12 000 dollars as lines and farm structures were damaged.

Funeral services for Hand County pioneer W.H. Shearer

Ree Heights will hold funeral services for W H Shearer 76 a noted Hand County pioneer who died after a ten day illness from a stroke He moved to Ree Heights in 1912 from a county farm and celebrated his golden wedding anniversary last March Survived by his wife five daughters and a sister with three daughters present at his death. The two missionary daughters are in Siam.

Convention Chooses St Lawrence as Annual Meeting Site

The group voted to designate St Lawrence as the annual meeting place. The convention opened with remarks by Mrs A J Brieble of Parker the state general secretary and Dr R C Agne of Huron College as speakers. The program included a pageant titled The Voice of the Future performed by the St Lawrence Sunday School directed by Mrs B F Magness.
