Susan Carey Faces Ambition and Romance in October

In chapter XXI Susan Carey, an 18 year old secretary, balances ambition with romance as she contends with rivals Denise Ackroyd and Bob Dunbar. Denise pushes a social invitation that tests Susan’s loyalty to Dunbar, while Susan recalls gifts from Aunt Jessie and questions her own future. The drive through a glamour world contrasts with Susan’s modest life as she weighs a possible reunion with Dunbar before his marriage.
