Prof A N Wray of Northern Normal spoke at Troquois high school Friday on the value of higher education. He urged youth to seize educational opportunities to meet future demands, noting science, personal growth, and appreciation of nature as benefits of college study. The glee club performed two numbers before his address.
The Rev Walter S Yan Beadle County Sunday School leader aided Edna Mack in arranging the May 3 convention in Wessington. A highmore youth drama with Huron music, morning address by A Eschliman, group discussions, devotionals, talks, and community singing led by K N Carlson will fill the day at the Wessington church with noon lunch for all delegates and visitors.
City residents report visits from Yankton Sioux Falls and Armour relatives while planning church dinners and rummage sales. Births announced include a seven pound daughter and an eight pound son, with families in Huron Portland and Lincoln subjects. Local travel includes a trip to Indianola and Detroit, plus a transfer office move at the transfer company.
Georgia Ambrose Baxter, a pioneer resident of Huron, died April 12 at her Rochelle home. She came with her parents in 1880 and was active in local social life until 1894 when she married Delos W. Baxter of Rochelle. She resided in Rochelle until Sunday morning. Mr. Baxter died ten years ago.
