Ceremonies in Rome Mark Holy Week Observances
In Rome, a solemn procession at St Mary Major opened Holy Week rites. Priests chanted the passion from Luke with Isaiah readings foretelling Christ’s sacrifice. Candles on a triangular stand were extinguished to mark apostolic desertion, amid psalms and hymns and a well conducted musical program at St Peter’s.

Farmers Push Bank Reform through Group Program
The piece describes necessity driving the creation of a group banking plan to reorganize rural banking. Depositors faced losses, with some recovering 13 to 2 cents on the dollar while others reclaimed over half their funds. Farmers suffered double. cash capital tied up and forced loan liquidations. The program aims to advise local banks via a regional advisory body to maintain community control while strengthening facilities for district recovery.
Group bank plan widens risk diversification across regions
A proposed group banking structure keeps affairs under resident officers and local directors with central supervision. Through periodical condition reports and regular examinations, the plan diversifies risk by including agricultural depositors and many metropolitan and secondary city banks.
