Huron Students Lead Qualifiers in Scholarship Contest
Vermillion April 4 116 South Dakota high school seniors from 61 schools passed the preliminary exam in the State University sixth annual scholarship contest eligible for the final April 22. William H Batson director announced five prizes totaling 245 dollars with a 70 dollar tuition prize for first place and a 70 dollar tuition prize for a top ten girl. Faculty Women Award three 35 dollar semester scholarships based on character and need. Preliminary examinations were completed.

Presbyterian Church Holds Annual Meeting
The Miler Presbyterian Church annual meeting adjourned with Rev. Joseph Andrews as moderator and Miss Dollie Bushfield as clerk. Trustees W. J. Halbower J. C. Jones and Rasmus Anderson were reelected for three years, D. A. Lewis as elder for three years, and Rasmus Anderson as treasurer for one year. Mrs. Farl Spain was reelected pianist and choir leader, assisted by Mrs. M. W. Wiesman. A social hour and lunch followed hosted by the Ladies Aid Society.
Boys Arrested For Break-Ins In Blunt Town
Three boys were arrested this week in Blunt amid a month of burglaries. One suspect released on parole, others due in juvenile court soon. The trio admitted breaking into several homes and stealing valuables. Woman's Eyeball Seared By Hot Stove Poker

Brookings April 4 Special Applicants for flight training in the U S Naval Reserve will be interviewed and examined by a selection board in the State College Armory April 8 and 9. College graduates or those who have completed two years of college may qualify aged 20 to 27 and meeting physical requirements. In Brookings on April 4 the State College freshman class will air 15 minute programs on KFDY each Thursday at 12 40 pm during the spring term. Beverly Parker leads as general chairman with Robert Anderson as talent solicitor and a committee including Mary Spensler Julian Vasgaard Helen Steen Virginia Carney to gather news and handle continuity. Norman Petersen announced the first program on March 28 featuring interviews with class officers and the initial talent. This marks the freshman station debut in an all freshman run.
